Yeah, not writing much these days. My current job (software engineer) is taking lots of time and energy. In addition, I've moved to a new place downtown and I'm currently buying a house of my own. So there's little time left to play around with “cool” technologies and write about them.
So, I've noticed that my writings on the Syskonnect/Marvell/Yukon network card is causing people to mail me their experiences with this card. Although I don't answer them all, I really appreciate it. A short note on the current status of this card: I've received word that a brand new driver has been written by Stephen Hemminger from ODSL. Although it has not yet been integrated in the main kernel tree, there's a posting on the LKML showing the patch and although I cannot find the exact patch, it appears to already have been included in the kernel patches of Andrew Morton, so expect it in the main kernel tree soon. I've briefly looked into the code of the new driver and it appears to have dropped the checksumming of the VPD area, so this might make my “patch” obsolete. As soon as I've checked it out, I'll report my findings on it.
